Last week I attended PHotoEspana 2007 Descubrimientos in Madrid, where my work Beaten people (now renamed as Battered) received the Descubrimientos PHE award. So next year the work will be exhibited in PhotoEspana festival. Thank you for all involved.

I just added some new images to the series Political prisoners and guns at home. I think both series are now completed (what comes to photographing).
I also added a two totally new projects into this work in progress section. First one is called Bunkers of Albania (2004-), and it is a work similar to violence/traces related works. The other work is very different, it is called hair-skin-pain (2005-). Within this body of work I continue my investigations on malehood.

I have just returned from a two weeks long journey to Albania. I was there to finish several ongoing projects, that is the Political prisoners and guns at home -series + some other totally new stuff. I will be adding this material to work in progress -section in near future.

I have added some new material to the Work in progress -section. There are five images from the series guns at home, which I have started to photograph in Albania in the autumn 2004. I will be continuing photographing this series in summer 2006 during my next visit to Albania. During that visit I also will be working with the Political prisoners -series.
I have also agreed to have an exhibition in Barcelona in Galeria Fotonauta. The show will take place in September 7th to September 29th. The show consists of ten images from the series Badscapes and On violence.

This message comes from Tirana, Albania. Tirana seems as amazing as in my previous visit. The exhibition I am attending, the Onufri05, includes many interesting artworks - and artists. Concerning contemporary photography Albania is not necessary the "burning point", but thematically this place offers a lot to think.

Next week I will be travelling to Albania to go to the Onufri 2005 exhibition "finissage" at the National Gallery of Arts. I will also be continuing photographing my Political prisoners -series. Great to go back there. I may be rehersing with my camera with some "wedding photos" also...

Last week I saw some very interesting images in Buchmann Galerie in Cologne, Germany. It was an exhibition by Bettina Pousttchi, called Take off. Highly recommended.

December 26th opens a photography exhibition/competition called Onufri 2005 in National Gallery of Arts, Tirana, Albania. I have a series called Studies in Albanian identity in that group exhibition. The theme of the whole exhibition is Up&Down or When the other appears on the scene. Concept is based on Umberto Eco's words: "Every human being has notions about meaning of perceiving, recalling, feeling desire, fear, sorrow, relief, pleasure or pain, and of emitting sounds that express these things. Therefore (and we are already in the sphere of rights) there are universal concepts regarding constrictions: we do not want anyone top prevent us from talking, seeing, listening, sleeping, swallowing or excreting, or from going where we wish; we suffer if someone binds or segregate us, beats, wounds, or kill us, or subjects us to physical or psychological torture that diminishes or annuls our capacity to think." Exhibition is curated by Eleni Laperi, an Albanian art historian.
